Donald E. Sabol, 81 of Girard, went to be with the Lord on Friday January 20, 2017, at UPMC Hamot.

 He was born December 30, 1935 in Erie, a son of the late Paul and Lillian (Rizner) Sabol.

 Don grew up in Cranesville on the Sabol Family Dairy Farm graduating from Albion High School in 1953. As a senior in high school he attended school in Illinois studying artificial inseminating at Curtiss Breeding Service. He returned home and began a franchise with the company which he owned and operated in Erie County to the late 1970’s. He later owned Don Sabol’s Tire Service in Cranesville for a number of years. Most recently he had worked as a subcontractor in the gas and oil business where he leased land for the companies from individuals, retiring at the age of 72.

 He was a member of the Girard Alliance Church, where he was an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, member of the GACA School Board, Usher, Governing Board and volunteered many hours of his time to the church. He was instrumental in the organization of the GACA Spaghetti Tent at the Albion Fair.

 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine (McClune) Sabol; a grandson, Micah Draa and a sister, Marilyn J. Miller.

 He will be greatly missed by his family, which include his wife, Shirley (Constable) Sabol, whom he married December 20, 1969 in Cranesville, also by two daughters, Jamie Draa (Rev. Keith) , Erin McAdoo (Daniel); a sister, Cheryl A. Esposto (Victor); a brother, Alan P. “Bud” Sabol (Wilma); his grandchildren, Hannah, Eli, Samuel and Emily Draa and several nieces and nephews.

 Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. Girard and again on Monday from 10 a.m. to the time of Service at 11 a. m. at the Girard Alliance Church, 229 Rice Ave., Girard with Rev. Clyde Davis Officiating.

 Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.

 In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Don Sabol Memorial Fund C/O Edder Funeral Home.
