Edward N. Klimek, 91, of Girard, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. -
He was born in Timken, Kansas on January 6, 1926, a son of the late John and Pauline (Shank) Klimek.
Edward was raised in Kansas and later moved to Texas to work on the oil rigs. He then moved to Girard and started a farm on South Creek Road where he had a saw mill. Throughout his adult life he worked at several manufacturing companies, retiring from Rich's Frozen Foods in Lake City.
He was a member of the Springfield VFW Post #4965 and the Girard American Legion Post # 494. He enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting and bowling and dog breeding.
In addition to his parents he was preceded by his spouse Evelyn R. (Serpan) Klimek on August 31, 1994, whom he married on July 19, 1948 in Kansas. Also by a sister Pauline, brothers John, Emil, Roy and Fred Klimek
and sons in law, Ronald Shepard and Charles Nye.
Edward is survived by his four daughters, Nichola Cooper (William) of Erie, Kathleen Shepard of Harborcreek, Cheryl Nye of Lake City and Lori Rea (Rodney) of Girard; a son, Clinton Klimek (Terri) also of Girard; two sisters, Lillian Biggie of Erie and Elsie Plautz (Charles) of Mentor, OH; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m and 6 to 8 p.m.at Edder Funeral Home, Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard, and are invited to attend a Service there on Saturday at 10a.m. with Rev. Marty Critchfield officiating.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
