Welcome to the memorial page for

Brandon Roney

October 19, 1992 ~ August 1, 2016 (age 23) 23 Years Old

Brandon C. Roney, 23, of Girard and McKean, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016, following a strong battle with schizoaffective disorder.

He was born October 19, 1992, in Erie, a son of Dean Roney of Girard and Carrie Forsythe (Michael Lafferty) of McKean.

He attended the Girard School District through middle school and later graduated from Collegiate Academy in 2011 summa cum laude.  He played saxophone for the Girard High School marching band and later played keyboard in a local band called Inward Focus.  Brandon had a passion for locomotives his entire life, watching trains in the area as a young boy.  This left him with a passion to someday work at General Electric in Erie, where he could assist in the development and assembly of these great machines firsthand.  Following high school, he attended and graduated from Penn State Behrend with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering with honors. While there, he was inducted into Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society, for being in the top of his engineering class.  Immediately following his graduation, he began to pursue his lifelong dream of working at General Electric, first as an intern and then as a full-time engineer/technologist, where he was currently employed.  He was a member of the Girard Sons of American Legion Post 494.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Wilda Roney.  Brandon will be greatly missed by his family, which, in addition to his mother and father, includes his sister, Rachael G. (Roney) Wright of McKean; his brother, Daniel B. Roney of McKean; his niece, McKenzie Wright; his nephew, Owen Wright; his paternal grandfather, Charles J. Roney of Girard; and his maternal grandparents, William and Gloria Forsythe of Albion.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be held at the Girard Alliance Church, Rice Avenue, Girard on Monday at 10 a.m., with Rev. Marvin Hutchison officiating.
