Funeral Director, Owner
Rick was three years old when his family
moved to Girard, where he lived above the funeral home, seeing his father serving
the families of West County every day. As a family, the Edder’s valued and
taught being of service, not only to the families they served professionally,
but also to the community. He learned
teamwork, discipline, and time management as a student athlete at Girard High
School. Coupling those life skills he too chose to serve as a funeral director.
Rick attended Mercyhurst University and then
Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science where he earned his degree and became
a licensed funeral director in 2020. He is married to his high school
sweetheart, Julia Hatton Edder. Together they are busy raising three very active
boys, Weston, Langston and Calen.
Rick purchased the funeral home from his father in 2025. Now as owner of the Edder Family Funeral Home, his desire to continue excellence in service is paramount.
Dan Edder has faithfully served as a funeral
director for 35 years. Having retired in January of 2025 Dan remains an
invaluable professional resource for his youngest son, Richard, who has assumed
ownership of the family business.
Dan is married to Bonnie Burns Edder who
remains on staff as office manager continuing a supporting role in the
operation of the funeral home.

Guest Greeter
Joyce Becker, as a door greeter, will often
be found attending to and treating visitors as family by taking a coat to hang,
serving water, guiding visitors during services, and offering a kind and welcoming
presence to guests. Having endured the recent loss of her husband, Joyce is
intuitive to what a family may need in the moments before they say goodbye to a
loved one.
Funeral Assistants
Butch, Dick, Bill, and Bob (not pictured) provide vital support during funeral services. Their efforts in handling military honors, set-up, break-down, and chauffer services ensure our funeral directors are able to focus on the family.
