William Carl Goodwin, a loving husband and father passed away on Tuesday January 24, 2024. William was born in Erie PA, the eldest son to the late Paul W and Helen (Schultz) Goodwin.
William "Bill" Goodwin married Arlene Avis Eastman on October 30,1954 in North East, PA. Together with Bill’s father and brother Paul, Goodwin Farms and Greenhouses was established and ran until their retirement in 2007. Bill dedicated over 40 years on several boards and committees serving Erie County and PA Agriculture. As president of the Erie County Farm Bureau, Bill lead policy development on both political and environmental issues to create a positive environment for agriculture in Erie and the Commonwealth. What he loved most was working the soil, seeing crops grow and providing quality fruits and vegetables. He was hardworking, fair and honest, and a great friend to many in the farming industry.
Bill proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife Arlene, Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David and his sister-in-law Janet.
He will be greatly missed by his family; daughter, Candy Crone (Carl); sons, William Goodwin (Linda), and Barry Goodwin; grandson, Shane Goodwin (Jenna); brothers, Paul R and Don Goodwin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bill was quick to share a joke to bring a smile to your face. He had an easy laugh and a positive outlook on life, always interested in learning something new.
The family would like to wholeheartedly thank Interim Hospice and caregivers Gayle & Cindy for their compassionate care.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Edder Funeral Home Inc. Girard PA, Visitation will be held Monday January 29 from 4 -7 p.m.
A private service and burial will be held the following day.
