Wayne V. Lewis, 81 of McKean died on Friday February 23, 2024 at Saint Vincent Hospital.
He was born February 18, 1943 a son to the late Victor and Alliene (Stewart) Lewis.
Wayne's upbringing was rooted in his father's dairy farm, where he started choring knee high to a grass hopper. Graduating from the first few classes of General McLane School District in 1961, he began a career with the Postal Service as a dedicated letter carrier, a role he faithfully fulfilled for over three decades. Simultaneously, he labored on the farm, rising before dawn to tend to the cows, finding enjoyment in the long days spent cultivating fields to be sure of the food supply for his livestock. During spring, he grappled with heifers that were bearing calves. He tirelessly maintained equipment, Wayne had an uncanny ability to engineer solutions from virtually nothing. It is difficult to place the value of a life spent toiling with one's hands in addition to time spent rushing at a moments notice to lend a helping hand. Wayne was a salt of the Earth man, hard working, and generous, spending his final days, into his eighties, doing what he loved.
In addition to parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kay (Foster) Lewis whom he married on March 28, 1973.
He will be greatly miss by his family which include his sisters, Debra Lewis, Diana Farley (Charles), and Nancy Lewis; nieces and nephews include, Jeff Farley (Jennifer), Lynette Zielinski (Mark), Jodi Perez (Harby), Jami Farley, Jennifer Mayo, Brandi Salvatore, Kimberly Veith, and Derek Veith; his friends and helping hands, Tim Dylan, Hunter Harrison, Austin Ferrick, and Cullen Howard; and his dog, Henry
