Victor P. Kalicky, 79, of Girard died on Sunday May 21, 2023.
Victor was born February 25, 1944, a son to the late Stanley P. and Lucille I. (Gilbert) Kalicky.
Victor graduated from Fairview High School in 1962. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he was stationed at the U.S. Naval Station in San Diego, CA. Unfortunately, his willingness to serve was shortened by a medical condition which resulted in his discharge.
Victor was a man that found the process of work to be invigorating, throughout his life. Upon returning home from San Diego, he began working with Russell Standard Corporation driving truck. Following that he was employed by Erie Sand and Gravel working as a welder. Victor also worked for Austin Servall Concrete Company as a transport truck driver. Finalizing his work career he retired from Baycrete, Inc. as a heavy equipment operator where he ran a front loader. Some years later he began sharing his work ethic and knowledge of equipment and operation with McClymonds-Wallace Trucking Supply Company.
Victor loved to work with wood at his home in his personal sawmill affectionately known as “Uncle Joes Sawmill.” His children can attest to helping him and learning from him along the way. He was especially fond of seeing a tree through the entire process of felling it in the woods, resulting in a finished board to be used in his building or to be sold.
He was a visionary where his home was concerned and along with his wife, transformed the interior of their home.
In his later years he enjoyed long vacations with his family, as well as deer hunting.
In addition to his parents Victor was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Kalicky; a sister, Christine A. Kalicky and Robin Kalicky-Dunn; son-in-law, Terry Suscheck; and a nephew, Jeremy E. Wattle
He will be greatly missed by his family which include his wife of 54 years, Diane Kalicky whom he married June 29, 1968; a daughter, Kirsten Suscheck; two sons, Kevin Kalicky (Heidi) and Stan Kalicky; and two grandchildren, Peyton Kalicky and Mason Kalicky.
