Velma C. (Wolfgang) Dinger, 92, of Girard, died on Thursday May 16, 2024 following a prolonged stay at Manchester Commons in the Memory Care Unit.
Velma was born February 14, 1932 in Struthers, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ray C. and Catherine (Boddorf) Wolfgang.
She lived many years in Oak Ridge, PA until 1966 when she relocated to Lake City. Velma was a long-time member of the Girard Alliance Church where she taught Sunday school. She worked hard for a long time in a small baby furniture building business upon moving to Lake City. In her later years she cared for her elders assisting them in their own homes. Velma enjoyed building crafts, spending time at the dinner table creating something beautiful. She loved to read her Bible. Music always soothed her in addition to going on brisk walks through the neighborhood.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. Dinger, whom she married March 12, 1949 in Hawthorne, PA; three sisters, Betty Bish, Geraldine Bish and Florence Schreckengost; and brothers, Howard and Johnny Wolfgang, in infancy.
She will be greatly missed by her family which includes her daughter, Kathy Graham and her husband Richard of Florida.; a son, John B. Dinger and his wife Valerie of Meadville; a sister, Shirley Magagnotti of Oak Ridge, PA., six grandchildren, Jaime, Melissa, Daniel, Jeff, Kim and Cameron; numerous great grandchildren, even great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Burial will take place next to her husband, in Girard Cemetery.
