Thomas Ingro Obituary

Thomas D. Ingro, 76, of Erie and formerly of Fairview, died Friday, September 9, 2022, at UPMC Hamot.
He was born September 3, 1946, in Erie, a son of the late Thomas A.H. and Virginia (Gorney) Ingro.
Tom graduated from Fairview High School in 1965. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1966 and served aboard the U.S.S. Essex (CVS-9) Wasp Class Amphibious Assault Ship during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Tom returned home and began work at Riley-Stoker where he learned the welding trade. He moved with his family to Florida where he continued in that work returning to Erie in 1974. He worked for General Electric and most recently worked for Eriez Magnetics as a welder, retiring from there in 2015.
He enjoyed fishing, cars, working in his yard and garden, flowers and nature.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Cowan) Ingro; a daughter, Christie Hellmann; a sister, Joan Ehret; a brother, Daniel Ingro and his wife Heyde and a granddaughter, Sierra Rose Meola.
He will be greatly missed by his family which include his loving companion, Dot Kennedy; daughter, Amy L. Meola (Robert); son, Thomas P. Ingro (Leah); son-in-law, Matthew S. Hellmann; sisters, Linda Betz, Virginia “Ginny” Rettger and April Wortman (Hal); brothers, Eric Ingro and fiance’, Becky and Sam Ingro (Patty); grandchildren, Brandon, Xavier, Angelina, Desiree, Joshua, Roman Meola, Jasmine Crosby (Dorian), Thomas A. and fiancé Rachel, Ryan, Katelyn Ingro and Nathan Hellmann; also several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 5Pm to 8PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend services there on Wednesday at 10 AM.
Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery with full military honors.
