Thomas M. Bendure, 70, of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on September 27, 1952, in Girard, a son of the late Kenneth J. and L. Jeanette (Adams) Bendure.
Tom attended Girard’s Rice Avenue Union High School and went to work at an early age. He began employment with Lake City Industries and later Meadow Book Dairy in Erie as a maintenance man. He continued that work at Stroehmann Bakery and The Plastek Group. Tom eventually went to work for General Electric in Erie, operating machines and most recently worked there as a maintenance man, retiring in 2020.
He was a member of the Gem City Gun Club in McKean and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved camping with his family and traveling throughout the state, most recently to Canadohta Lake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Ouelette and a brother, Jimmy Bendure.
Tom will be greatly missed by his family, which include his wife, Denise (Jeska) Bendure, whom he married September 12, 1992, in Erie; a daughter, Heather A. Bendure; two sons, Shawn M. Bendure (Robin) and Brian M. Bendure; his grandchildren, Kyle, Matthew and Hunter Bendure; a sister, Peggy Wilkins; a brother, John F. Bendure (Margie) and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday evening (June 8) from 5 to 7PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend the funeral service there on Friday (June 9) at 10AM.
A burial will follow in Girard Cemetery.
