Sylvia D. (Lassiter) Rekitt

Sylvia D. Rekitt, 84, of Girard, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 17, 2024.

She was the daughter of the late Dillard and Marie (Pardue) Lassiter, born on January 12, 1940.

Sylvia was a graduate of Academy High School in 1957. Following high school, she married the love of her life and started a family. She stayed home for a number of years raising her children. In 1980, she began working for the next seven years at St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was an active member her whole life. She held a few other jobs during that time, but most importantly, she was a loving mother to her children.

In her free time, she enjoyed reading and watching birds, especially her beloved hummingbirds. She also enjoyed bingo nights with friends, and she loved to cook and bake. Additionally, she was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club in Erie.

In addition to her parents, Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Rekitt.

She will be deeply missed by her sons, Greg and Jeff Rekitt; daughters, Deb (Phil) Stubenhoffer, Cheryle (Craig) Wagner, and Brenda (Tom) Nesbit; sister, Dorothy Elder (Sam); eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren, including one baby boy on the way.

Per Sylvia's wishes, services are to be private.
