Susan M. Way

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Susan (Italiani) Way on August 31, 2025 after a valiant fight with cancer.  

She was born on June 5, 1961 the daughter of Betty Lou (Smulik) Italiani and the late Frank Italiani of Lake City.

Susie will forever be remembered as a caring wife and mother, a champion game player of all sorts, her extensive collection of stuffed animals as well as her superb fudge.

She will also be further remembered for her daily porch time especially during thunderstorms. As well as her love of Horror movies of all kinds the scarier the better.  

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Frank Italiani; mother-in-law, Margaret Ann Way; father-in-law, Donald D. Way Sr.; sister, Mary Ann Kuhn; a grandchild, Amy Lingenfelter; and her best friend, Shelly Farley.

She will be greatly missed by the love of her life; Pastor Donald Way whom she married in 1989; in his words, “Susie is Love”, together they shared six children, Donald Thomas Way, Christina Ahl (Woody), Kevin Lingenfelter (Shannon) and Matthew J. Way Sr.; brother, Frank A. Italiani; sister, Karen Italiani; several grandchildren including, Mercadeze Lingenfelter, Mason Lingenfelter, and  Christina Lingenfelter; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In honor of Susan’s life and her laid back style, it is asked to arrive to services as you are, informally; as well as wearing her favorite color, Purple.

Friends may call on Wednesday September 3, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Edder Family Funeral Home LLC. A Funeral Service will be held there Thursday at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
