Stanley E Junkin, 73, of McKean, PA died suddenly on Wednesday October 2, 2024.
He was born January 13, 1951 a son to the late Howard and Nona (Dale) Junkin.
Stan graduated from McDowell High School in 1970. Before graduation he married Darlene, the love of his life, and to this day, his cherished bride of over fifty years. Providing for his family, he began working at what would become the Erie Coke Corporation. Stan was a heaterman, controlling and operating equipment essential to the manufacture of the company's needs. He remained with the company for over 40 years, retiring after a job well done. Following his retirement, Stan wishing to remain active, began working as the caretaker of Girard Cemetery with his daughter. His years at the cemetery were full of activities that resonated deeply with him.
Stan's family was the foundation of his life, his time was invested and devoted to family events, constructing gifts out of wood, and serving their needs.
Stan loved being in the outdoors, prepping and finalizing his hunting stand mere days before his passing. Stan was a mechanically adept man who used his skills to develop ideas for the space in his home. He was always eager to learn, and had the patience to do so when the answers weren't obvious. He might have been the only man to have ever read "the instructions" and was known to even stop and ask for directions.
Stan spent over twenty years as an active volunteer fireman, starting at Fairview and moving to McKean Fire Department for the majority of those years.
In his quiet hours he sought out books, particularly the mystery series of Ed McBain and Rex Stout. Stan was a faith filled man attending Methodist churches in the area.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, George and Daniel Junkin; sisters, Patricia Howard and Margaret “Peggy” Devine; son-in-law, David Osterberg; grandchildren in infancy, Kindle, Baby J, Sophia, and Wesley.
He will be greatly missed by his family which include his wife, of 54 years, Darlene (Hawley) Junkin; daughter, Heather Osterberg; son, Daniel Junkin (Marleny); brothers, Howard Junkin (Midge) and Russell Junkin (Michelle); grandchildren, Emma Osterberg (Fiance’, Alex), Annebelle Kindle (Cody); Wesley Junkin (Gina), Katarina Ybanez (Glenn), Wyatt Junkin, Max Junkin; great-grandchildren, Piper Junkin, Parker Junkin, Elizabeth Ybanez, Grace Yabanez, Oliver Yabanez, and the expectant Madison Marie.
