Shelva "Shelby" Smith Obituary

Shelva "Shelby" J. (Moore) Smith, 84, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at West Lake Woods Assisted Living Center.

Shelby was born June 10, 1940, in Beckley, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Desper and Ruby (Redden) Moore.

She graduated from the Woodrow Wilson High School in 1959. Following high school, she and her family moved to the Girard area where she became a homemaker and mother whose priority was taking care of her family and home.

Shelby loved interior decorating in her home, where items in the home were switched quite frequently to adjust to her taste for the season or holiday. She also enjoyed antique tractor shows and Nascar races with husband, Gordon, and friends. She especially loved her friends on Williams Road.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon "Gordy" Smith, whom she married November 25, 1961, and a brother, Carlos Moore.

Shelby will be greatly missed by her family, which include three sons, Howard E. Smith (Jen) of West Springfield, Robert A. Smith (Amy) of Lake City, and Kevin R. Smith (Amanda) of Springfield Twp.; her grandchildren, Brett Smith (Megan), Justin Smith, Jacob Smith, Derek Smith, and Cole Smith; great grandson Blake Smith; as well as great granddaughters, Mckenna Smith and Blake Smith.

Services will be held privately by the family.
