Rosalee (Mills) Brown, 87, of Girard, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Saint Vincent Hospital.
She was born March 15, 1938 in Raleigh, NC, a daughter to the late Herman and Mamie (Vinson) Mills.
Following high school, she met her future husband, Joe Brown, who was stationed in the area with the U.S. Army. They soon married and spent their honeymoon in Lake City, PA, where Joe had grown up.
Rosalee began working locally at Marx’s Toys before she and Joe started a family. She devoted herself to being the heart and keeper of their home. Together, they ran a produce farm in Lake City, where she managed the produce stand; stocking, selling, and greeting neighbors with her warm smile and tireless work ethic. Her presence in the small community was well known, marked by her kindness and dedication.
Rosalee played an active role in all aspects of the farm, from keeping up with supplies to planting and picking. She truly was the center of the family, caring lovingly for everyone around her.
She loved to socialize, often gathering friends for card games that lasted late into the evening. Her love for baking was matched by her artistic flair-she had a special talent for creating beautiful confections, from simple birthday treats to elaborate wedding masterpieces.
Rosalee was a loving and caring woman who lived her life in service to those around her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Hazel Baker, Faye Dent, and Frances Crum; and her brother, William Mills.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, “Joe” Gerald Brown, whom she married on March 2, 1957; her son, Raymond Brown and his wife Susan; her brother-in-law, George Brown and his wife June; and her nephew, John Brown, who was like a second son.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Peggy Stossmeister for her loving care and compassion over the past several years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Erie Humane Society, 2407 Zimmerly Rd, Erie, PA 16506.
Friends may call on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10:00 am to the time of service at 11:00am at the Edder Family Funeral Home, LLC, 309 Main St. E., Girard. Burial is to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
