Ronald Opferman Obituary

Ronald L. Opferman, 76, of Girard and formerly of Canonsburg, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at UPMC Hamot.
He was born in Canonsburg, June 17, 1946, a son of the late LeRoy J. and Helen M. (Schaff) Opferman.
Ron was raised and educated in the Canonsburg area. In 1965 he was inducted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He served with Headquarters, 1st Training Brigade at Fort Jackson, SC and awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Sharpshooter Rifle badge (M-14).
Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he returned home to Canonsburg where he worked at various means of employment. Ron began working for the US Post Office, in Postal Police for the Postal Inspection Service. He received many citations throughout the years of working for his dedicated work there. Ron moved to the Girard area in 2007 and has resided here since.
He was a member of the Federation of Eagles Club, in Grove City and enjoyed hunting throughout the mountains of Pennsylvania.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a sister, Janice L. Bennett.
He is survived by an aunt, Sandra L. Opferman of Girard and a nephew, Shawn R. Opferman (Melissa) of Erie.
No calling hours or services will be observed.
