Robert "Bob" J. Walchack

Robert J. Walchack passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, with his loving wife by his side, at his home in West Springfield, Pennsylvania, at the age of 94.  He was the son of the late Oswald and Bertha Walchack in Adrian, PA.
 
Bob (as he liked to be called) graduated from St. Adrian High School, DeLancy, PA, at age 17.  He entered the United States Navy for four years as Corpsman.  After his Honorable Discharge, he entered the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.  Bob proudly served as a Pennsylvania State Policeman for 24 years and retired as a Corporal.  In his career, he received many Letters of Commendation.  Bob also participated in many shooting competitions as a top marksman. After his retirement, Bob worked for the Marshall Services as a Security Officer for 15 years at the Erie Federal Courthouse.
 
As an avid sports fan, Bob enjoyed every sport without reservation. Bob and his wife often traveled to watch their children and grandchildren participate in their various sporting events. He found contentment in tending his garden and raising beef cattle on their peaceful homestead. Bob was a conversationalist, always pausing to chat about the latest happenings in someone's life. He was also an active member of St. John’s Evangelist Church. Bob was also awarded the fourth degree, in the Knights of Columbus.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Caroline Lesnick and John Walchack.
 
He will be greatly missed by his family which includes his wife of 68 years, Helen (Duris) Walchack, whom he married on April 21, 1956; four children, Ronald R. Walchack (Nancy), Cheryl A. Harris, Susan M. Zampino, and Denise L. Walchack; grandchildren, Ashley Walchack (Angel), Lindsay (Bryan) Monheim, Ryan (Kayla) Walchack, Robert (Sara) Walchack, Brittney Harris, and Joey (Amy) Harris; great grandchildren, Mason, Jackson, and Emma Harris; Wyatt Walchack; Bryce, Brody, and Brock Monheim; and several nieces and nephews.
 
The family would like to thank the Hospice Team for their excellent care.
 
Memorials may be made to the St. John Evangelist Church, 1001 Main Street East, Girard, PA.
 
Friends and family may call on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Edder Family Funeral Home, LLC, 309 Main St. E., Girard, as well as the following day, Thursday, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, which will be followed by prayers preceding Mass. Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 pm at St. John the Evangelist Church.  Burial and Full Military Honors will follow at the St. John’s Cemetery.
