Richard Wagoner Obituary

Richard A. Wagoner, 74 of McKean, died Tuesday January 23, 2018 at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness.
 He was born May 3, 1943 in Erie, a son of the late Raymond and Esther (Lumme) Wagoner.
 Rich graduated from McDowell High School 1961. Following high school he enlisted in the US Navy where he was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea, serving aboard the USS Tutuila. Following his discharge from the military he returned to the Erie area and remained in the US Naval Reserves as a Sea Bee. He worked at Bucyrus- Erie, Hammermill Papers and later General Electric as a Pipe Fitter and Welder, retiring from GE in 2009.
 He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed boating and the great outdoors. At the age of 60, he got to fulfill his skydiving dream at Skydive, Pa.
 Rich was a member of the Millcreek American Legion Post #773, the Orville H. Frank post #742 in Fairview and the VFW Post #470, also a member of the Gem City Outdoorsmen Club, the Sons of Lake Erie and the Erie County Beagle Club.
 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Newcomb, a sister in law, Beverly Wagoner and grandsons, Ryan Newcomb and Michael Howard.
 He will be greatly missed by his family, which include his "Rock" and former wife, Shirley (Holmstrom) Wagoner; daughters, Sheryl (Wagoner) Dunn (Russ), Cathy (Newcomb) Howard (Mike), Karin McKinney; sons, Richard Wagoner II, Edward Newcomb, Patrick McKinney and his fiancé’ Hannah Smith; a brother, James Wagoner and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
  At Richard's request there will be no calling hours or services will be observed.
