Richard S. "Dick" Chase, 67, loving and generous man living in Avon Lake, OH and formerly of Lake City, PA, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, OH.
He was born July 5, 1954, in Union City, PA, a son of the late Frederick R. and Betty A. (Willey) Chase. Dick graduated from Girard’s Rice Avenue Union High School in 1972. He had been employed at H. W. Beattie & Sons jewelry store located in downtown Cleveland, OH for 28 years later transitioning to school bus driver for the Bay Village Schools District for 18 years and retired from there in 2019.
Throughout Dick’s life, he enjoyed golfing, photography, and working on his lawn. He volunteered many years for Cleveland’s downtown Rotary Club District #6630, chairing the Arts Committee for several years and was a member of the Cleveland Athletic Club (CAC). During his membership, he bowled on the CAC Men’s Bowling league and also was the coxswain for the CAC Men’s Rowing Team.
Dick’s family includes his wife, Linda G. (Gayford) Chase, whom he married August 27, 1988, in Cleveland, OH; his daughter, Sophie A. Chase, of Delaware, OH; a son, Benjamin F. Chase (fiancé Lauren), of Bay Village, OH; a sister, Bettie L. Stephens (husband Jerry) of Lake City, PA and niece, Stephannie Bischoff (husband Jeff) of Colchester, CT and nephew, Chad Stephens (wife Stacey) of East Springfield, PA and three great nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6PM to 8PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard and are invited to attend services there on Wednesday at 10:30 AM.
Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
