Richard Brozell Obituary

Richard N. Brozell, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 8th, 2026. He was born December 13, 1941, to the late Roy G. and Lucile (Blystone) Brozell.

Richard graduated from Fairview High School and began his career in construction and remodeling shortly thereafter. A skilled craftsman and dedicated professional, he spent most of his career as an independent contractor, proudly owning and operating Richard Brozell Construction until his retirement.

An avid outdoorsman, Richard found deep joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. Whether walking quietly through the woods, camping under the stars, or tending to his garden, he felt peace and purpose in the natural world. He shared this love with his family, creating lasting memories during many summers spent camping. One summer, he even packed up and drove his family across the country for three weeks, camping along the way — an adventure they would never forget.

Above all else, Richard cherished his family. He was always there when his children needed him and never missed an opportunity to support his grandchildren. From cross country meets to basketball and football games, he was a steady and proud presence on the sidelines. He embraced life fully and courageously, enjoying many adventures — parasailing in Florida, ziplining in Mexico, and one of his most treasured experiences: skydiving at the age of 73 with his oldest grandson, Josh. His hunting adventures took him across state lines and even abroad, where he experienced breathtaking landscapes that many only dream of seeing.

Richard was an Erie County Republican committeeman for 10 years, a proud member of the Girard Lake Erie Lodge #347, the Scottish Rite, the Zem Zem Shrine, and a former member of the McKean Lions Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Rogers, Marylin Vargulich, and Lou Dunn; and his brothers, Kenneth Brozell and Marvin Brozell.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family, including his wife, whom he married August 9th, 1986, Shirley (Vollentine Stankey) Brozell; son, Christopher Brozell; daughter, Pamela Zaycosky (Michael); stepsons, Randall W. and Ryan W. Stankey; grandchildren, Joshua, Daniel, and Benjamin Porter, and John and Sarah Zaycosky; as well as many nieces and nephews.

As the last of his brothers and sisters, Richard leaves behind a legacy that will live on for generations through his children and grandchildren. The love he gave and the life he built will continue to be felt by all who knew him. His strength, kindness, sense of adventure, and deep love of family will continue to guide and inspire those who knew him. He taught by example — how to work hard, how to show up, and how to appreciate the simple beauty of the world around us. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
