Polly A. Rainey-Herrera, 65, of Girard, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
She was born on January 23, 1958, and was the loving daughter of the late Louis Rainey.
Polly graduated from Harborcreek High School in 1976. After graduation, she attended Edinboro University for nursing. During that time, she also joined the Peace Corps, volunteering all over Erie County. She began her career working a variety of jobs, mostly in culinary arts. Her main jobs throughout her life were at Iron Rail Tavern, Penny's Pub, but most notably at All Aboard Diner, where she worked with her son Alex. She retired from cooking and began cleaning houses in her leisure time.
Polly was a creative person, constantly making any sort of crafts she could get her hands on. She particularly enjoyed making wreaths and other sorts of knickknacks that could be found at her house. She also loved music. Polly was known for her eclectic taste, ranging from French music to hip hop and even Justin Timberlake. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family and her cats. She was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Mill Creek.
In addition to her mother, Polly is proceeded in death by her adoring husband, Carmelo Herrera.
She will be deeply missed by her children; Alex Herrera, Alexis Martin, Jacob Campanini (Wife Ashley Campanini) and Stephen Herrera; Her Grandchildren Elijah Eckonen, Frankie and Hank Martin, Stephen Herrera, Brady Herrera, Arianna Herrera and Lynnora Herrera; Polly's Brothers Tim, Chris, and Pat Rainey, as well as Mike Mecklin; Her Sisters Cathy Baggett, Bambi Denning, Mardi Garnon.
Friends may call on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Polly Rainey-Herrera Memorial Fund under the care of the Edder Funeral Home Inc.
