Phillip A. Stubenhofer, 68, of Girard, died suddenly at his home on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
He was born on May 13, 1957, a son of the late Robert and Edith (Loomis) Stubenhofer.
Phillip was a graduate of Academy High School. Throughout his life, he worked faithfully at Seaway Manufacturing Corporation, where he provided for his family and remained a loyal employee until his retirement.
Family was the most important part of Phillip’s life. He remained close with his brothers into adulthood, gathering together each month. He was always active and enjoyed pickup basketball games, golf, and bowling. Each year, he looked forward to participating in golf tournaments, sharing laughter and making memories. Phillip and his wife could often be found walking their beloved dog together each morning and evening.
He was a devoted sports fan, especially of the Cleveland Browns and the Boston Celtics, enthusiastically watching games with his family and never hesitating to voice the tense moments. Sundays were reserved for family gatherings, where meals were shared, stories were told, and card games of all kinds brought laughter. As the family grew, Phillip cherished the closeness they maintained, never forgetting those dearest to him. Summers were marked by a large family reunion, another tradition he held close. He was also a member of the Fairview American Legion Post #742.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents as well as his parents-in-law, Al and Darlene Rekitt.
Phillip will be greatly missed by his loving family, including his wife, Deborah (Rekitt) Stubenhofer, whom he married on June 25, 1977; his sons, Phillip Stubenhofer and Robert Stubenhofer; his brothers, Richie Stubenhofer (Marie), Jimmy Stubenhofer (Judy), and David Stubenhofer (Deb); his grandchildren, Austin and Brinley Stubenhofer; his brothers-in-law, Jeff Rekitt and Greg Rekitt; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Wagner and Brenda Rekitt; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Phillip Stubenhofer Memorial Fund, c/o Edder Family Funeral Home, 309 Main Street E, Girard, PA 16417.
Services will be privately held by the family.
