Paul Carr Obituary

Paul D. Carr, 73, of Cranesville, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on July 8, 2026.

He was born in Erie to the late George and Freida (Roberts) Carr of the "Carr Farm" in Cranesville.

Paul was a 1970 graduate of Northwestern High School and started working for the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad in 1971. During such troubling times in the United States, Paul valiantly enlisted in the United States Air Force. He honorably served his nation as a security police officer stationed in Germany until 1975. Upon his return home, he resumed work at the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad and met his bride, Kathleen Johnson, whom he married on January 14, 1977.

Upon the closure of the railroad, Paul returned to service, joining the Air National Guard at Niagara Falls Air Force Base, New York, where he served until 1995. He eventually returned home and worked as a corrections officer at SCI Albion until his retirement in 2008.

Paul loved hunting, shooting, history, woodworking, and modeling. He also enjoyed serving his community at the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department fish fries and wing nights. He had a deep love for aviation, which he shared with all of his boys. He was a treasure trove of knowledge and could repair almost anything. His meticulous attention to detail and organization were reflected in his lawn, garage, home, and dedication to his family. His immense love for his family was passed down to him by his parents, and he was happiest when they were all together.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Howard "Bud" and Joan Johnson; sisters, Marlene Lesnoff and Carol Lee Carr; brother-in-law, Charles "Chuck" Ramsey; and sisters-in-law, Carol Ann Carr and Cynthia Garnic.

Paul leaves behind his loving family, including his beloved wife of 49 years, Kathleen (Johnson) Carr; son, Jered Carr (Stacy); daughter, Jennifer Foreman (Brian); four amazing grandchildren, Deserae Carr, Rylie Carr, Nolan Carr, and Joseph Foreman; brothers, Alan Carr (Lois) and Daniel Carr; sisters, Linda Ramsey and Mary Ellen Hulley (Garold); as well as many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to thank and recognize those in health care who worked tirelessly to care for Paul in his final years, including Dr. Dave Seastone; Dr. Anthony Behm; the VA Home Health team; Julia, Amy, Laura, and Stacy; and the Family Hospice team of Savannah, Lyndsey, and Kathleen.
