Norman C. Fox Jr. 88, of Girard passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital.
He was born on January 27, 1936, a son of the late Norman and Dorothy (Horning) Fox Sr. in Erie, PA. Following his attendance at Strong Vincent High School, Norman enlisted in the US Navy in July of 1953 amid the Korean Conflict and was stationed at United States Submarine Base in New London, CT where he was a Physician’s Assistant. Upon his Honorable Discharge from his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. While living in the city of Philadelphia, Norman served as a Police Officer and later moved to Erie in 1966, where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a Carrier. Following his time working as a carrier, Norman transitioned to The National Forge where he was employed in manufacturing and retired in 1998 following a job well done.
Norman was a loving father and grandfather, eager to watch over his grandchildren with his wife during his retirement. They often took trips to Lake Erie to enjoy the beach and some calm time away from home. He enjoyed sharing his love of old country music and western movies to all who would join him. Norman was also an avid sports fan, keen to follow the Saints football team, in addition to many others. He kept a sports pool for his coworkers, studying the scoring of the games. Norman enjoyed bowling and was involved in many leagues throughout Erie County. He was a member of the Girard American Legion Post #494.
In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne D. Fox; sisters, Cleo Mae Fox as well as his twin, Norma Jean Canzano.
Norman will be greatly missed by his family including his wife, Elayne A. (Joint) Fox, whom he married on January 27, 1968 in Erie, PA; daughters, Colleen Fox (Micki), Justine H. Rhines (Donald), Leslie Seidler (Jason), Sherri S. Miller (Jerome), and Chereen R. Barber (Scott); a son, Adam R. Fox; sisters, Barbara Fox, Colleen McKinney, Karen Delancey (John), and Diane Royce (Allen); brothers, Dennis Fox (Carol), and Skip Pyle; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to a celebration of life on Friday July 12, 2024 at the Girard American Legion, Post #494, from 5:00pm to the time of family tributes and full military honors at 7:00pm
