Norma L. (Dixon) Knepp, 98, of Millcreek died on Sunday June 9, 2024 at St. Marys at Asbury Ridge.
Norma was born April 16, 1926 in Mineral Springs, PA (Clearfield County), a daughter of the late Lloyd and Edith (Heise) Dixon.
She graduated from the Clearfield High School in 1945. She moved to Erie where she began working at Erie Resistor (now Erie Technological Products) for 26 years, following her marriage to Richard P. Knepp in 1950.
Norma was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Erie; a member of the United Methodist Women; the Crazy "8"s; participated in "Senior Day Out" which she and her husband operated, as well as volunteering for the Girard Alliance Christian Academy.
Her family cherishes the countless memories of her deep love for them. She was an attentive mother and wife, who worked hard to make sure everyone was taken care of. She spoiled her grandchildren and great grandchildren with her sweet and doting nature. She was always willing to lend a listening ear and her presence was one of comfort and compassion. She always made sure that her family knew she loved them, even during her final days.
Diagnosed with meta static breast cancer in her 80’s, she was a fighter who took her treatments in stride while continuing to care for her husband. She never wanted to inconvenience anyone and had an incredible ability to push through tough situations.
She was a remarkable woman who won the hearts of all those who spent time with her at her church, in her neighborhood, and then at St. Marys.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, of 64 years, Richard Knepp whom she married August 8,1950 in Woodland, PA; sister, Frances Oberheim; 4 brothers, Marvin, Lester, Bruce and Norman Dixon.
She will be greatly missed by her family which includes a daughter, Cindy Shatto (Dale) of Girard; two grandchildren, Brittney Wolf (Arik) of Fairview and Trent Shatto (Lauren) of Girard; five great grandchildren, Carter, Reese, Charlee (Wolf), Leonard, and Lucille (Shatto), also several nieces and nephews.
