Norma Grace Hanisek

Norma Grace (Scott) Hanisek, 91, died on Wednesday January 17, 2024 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. 

She was born March 5, 1932 in  Girard, PA  the daughter of Harry L. and Grace E. (Sisson) Scott.

She attended the Rice Avenue Union High School and married Andrew J. Hanisek at St. John's Catholic Church in Girard.  They were married 51 years before his death in 1999. She worked eight years for the Girard Area School District  in the cafeteria and as an aid at Elk Valley Elementary School.  Later, she went to work for Spectrum Control in Fairview, where she worked until her retirement in 1997.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church since 1948 where she served in the Altar Rosary Society, as present Eucharistic minister and on the women's funeral luncheon committee.  She also had volunteered at Pleasant Ridge Manor since 1963 and she was a Eucharistic minister for the last several years. Norma enjoyed flower gardening and her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, Andrew J. Hanisek; four sisters, Arlene Scott, Donna Ebner, Mary Saari, and Elaine Surma; two brothers, Harry and Walter Scott; and a grandson, Jared M. Hanisek.

She will be greatly missed by her family which include a daughter, Mary Kay Mucha and Scott of Lake City; three sons, Dennis J. Hanisek and Eileen of East Springfield, Andrew J. Hanisek of Girard, and David M. Hanisek and Cheryl of Lake City; one sister, Nancy Kershaw of NC; a brother, Dale Scott and Carol of FL; eight grandchildren, Keith Hanisek, Karleigh Shipley, Hope Hanisek, Jamie Feldmann and Jill Belmondo, and Bethany Stewart, Brooke Schreffler and Bryant Mucha; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
