Nada R. (VanVoorhis) Phillips, 67 of Girard, died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
She was born October 12, 1953 in Venetia, PA (Washington County), a daughter of the late John G. and Virginia L. (McCombs) VanVoorhis.
Nada graduated from the Peters Township High School in 1971. Following high school, she was employed at Beefwicks Restaurant in The West Erie Plaza and later at Grimm Industries in Fairview. She was well known in the area as a caregiver for children in her home for many years.
Nada was a member of the Girard American Legion Post#494 Auxiliary, was involved with Girl Scouts and a troop leader for many years, she was also an active member of the Girard High School Marching Band Boosters, while her daughter was in high school. She loved sewing, reading, traveling crafts and canning.
She is survived by her loving husband, W. Gordon Phillips Jr., who she married, March 4, 1972 in Venetia, PA; her daughter, Amanda R. Phillips and her fiancé’ Justin Poole of Waterford; two sisters, Janet Schmitt (James) of Millcreek, Nancy Harriett (David Simpson) of Butler, PA she is also survived by her father-in-law Wayne Phillips Sr. of Millcreek; sister-in-law- Kris Diehl (Lonny) of Kane PA and by nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends.
Due to Covid-19, services will be held privately by the family.
