Myra P. (Passmore) Wright

Myra P. (Passmore) Wright, 94, of Fairview died on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Fairview Manor. 

Myra was born on March 17, 1928 in Chard, Somerset County, England, a daughter of the late Leonard G. and Beatrice (Manning) Passmore.

She graduated from Holy Rood School in 1942 in Chard, Somerset County, England. Upon her graduation, she worked at Gill's Restaurant in England. During WWII her family struggled but maintained strength and hope through the German Blitzkrieg, where Germany rained bombs night after night upon the English countryside. After the war she traveled to the U.S. into New York City in 1948 on the RMS Queen Elizabeth, then traveled by train to Westfield, N.Y. to be near her family (the Kelly  family). Myra worked for General Electric in 1950 then moved to Girard on South Creek Road where she would live for many years. Most recently she worked for J.C. Penney Company in housekeeping. After retirement she traveled back to England visiting her old homestead as well as Scotland and Ireland. 

She was a charter member of the Bethel Assembly of God in Girard where she was very active as a former Sunday School Teacher for nineteen years and helped out in many other capacities. She enjoyed knitting and making gifts for family and friends. Myra enjoyed the outdoors with family, camping and hiking. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Neal E. Wright; sister, Enid Henrietta Gee of Taunton, Somerset County, England.

Myra will be greatly missed by her family which include her daughter, Miriam R. Youschak and her husband, Al of Cranesville; son, Mark D. Wright and his wife, Ruth of Girard; sister, Wendy Ann Guppy of South Chard, Somerset County, England; her granddaughter, Crystal M. Kornelius and her husband, Thomas of Germany.

Friends may call on Tuesday, October 18th, from 11:00 am to the time of service at 1:00 pm at Bethel Assembly of God Church, 1414 Lake Street, Girard.  Burial to follow at Girard Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethel Assembly of God Church, 1414 Lake Street, Girard, PA 16417.
