Michael J. Bowen, 52, of Girard, PA passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 16, 1972, to James N. and Joan C. (Schmidt) Bowen, Michael lived a life fueled by passion, dedication, and love for his family. He was preceded in death by his father, James.
Michael was the beloved husband of Angela (Lesko) Bowen, the love of his life. Together, they built a strong family and shared countless memories, especially through the many trips they took together. They were each other’s person - a true partnership rooted in love and unwavering support. He was a devoted father to his son, Cash, and took immense pride in watching him play baseball and basketball. Michael was deeply committed to his son’s passion for sports and cherished every moment they shared together. There was something truly special about the way his eyes lit up or the quiet smile that played across his face whenever he watched Cash. Michael embraced his role as stepfather to Wesley Hansen (Jordan), Annelise Hansen and Gabe Hansen and was always there to offer words of advice. Mike was a steady presence, a trusted advisor, and a quiet source of strength for them.
Michael was the proud owner of PowerHouse Automotive for over 30 years, where he built a reputation as a leader in his field, empowering numerous enthusiasts and racers at every level. His journey in the automotive industry was shaped early on by the influence of his neighbor, Denny Wojsiat. That inspiration led to a successful career and propelled him to outstanding success in his racing endeavors, where he clinched two world championships in the prestigious NMRA Factory Stock class. His expertise, dedication, and passion for the racing world earned him the respect and admiration of many.
Over the years, Mike’s shop became more than just a place of work - it was a gathering spot where friends would stop by, share stories, lend a hand, or just enjoy each other’s company. That time spent together meant the world to Mike, and those memories will always hold a special place in the hearts of the friends who share them.
Michael’s legacy will live on through the love he shared with his family, his impact on the automotive and racing communities, and the many lives he has touched along the way.
Friends may call on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Girard Alliance Church, 229 Rice Avenue, Girard, PA 16417. A Funeral Service will be held at Girard Alliance the following day, Tuesday, at 11:00 am.
