Matthew J. Rogers, 44, of Lake City, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 4, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to his family and friends.
He was born on May 2, 1981, at Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA, to his loving parents, Ronald and Christine (Horsemanko) Rogers.
Matt graduated from Girard High School in 1999, where he played football and wrestled throughout his school years. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America and participated in Royal Rangers through Bethel Assembly of God Church. Following graduation, Matt began working at First Line Coatings in Erie, where he started as a general laborer. Over the course of more than 25 years, he worked his way up to Production Supervisor, a role in which he took great pride.
Above all, Matt was a devoted father. He cherished every moment with his son, Ivan, from preparing homemade meals each night to sharing imaginative play with stuffed animals before bedtime. His love and dedication as a father will be remembered always.
Matt was active in his community throughout his life. He was a former social member of Conneautville American Legion Post #615, a former Sons of the American Legion member at Girard American Legion Post #494, and in his younger years, volunteered with both the A.F. Dobler Hose & Ladder Company as well as the Lake City Fire Company.
He was preceded in death by his fiancée, Julie Williamson, and his grandparents, Randall and Helen Rogers.
Matt is lovingly remembered by the joy of his life, his son, Ivan Randall Rogers; his sister, Pamela Waters; as well as several aunts, uncles, and many dear friends.
