Matthew J. Higby

Matthew (Matt) J. Higby, 32, of Fort Collins, CO, passed away on February 7, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born October 31, 1991, in Erie, PA, the son of Jeff and Kim (Kebort) Higby. 

Matt grew up in Lake City, PA, and graduated from Girard High School in 2010.  He also attended Slippery Rock University and Edinboro University. He worked several years at Country Fair in Girard and Erie. In 2017, Matt moved to Fort Collins, CO, where he worked for Wells Fargo and Sam’s Club.  

Matt enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing video games, and watching sports and movies.  Matt had the greatest smile and made friends everywhere he went.  His warmth, subtle wit, and infectious laugh were a joy to those around him.  He will be sadly missed by many.  

He was preceded in death by his father, an uncle Ken Kebort and several grandparents.

 
In addition to his mother, Matt is survived by a sister, Kelly Higby, and her husband Michael Head of Boston, MA;  a grandmother, Sandie (DeMascolo) Matthews, and her husband Don of Cornelius, NC;  an aunt, Lisa Nageotte, and her husband Larry of Davidson, NC;  an uncle, Brian Kebort, and his wife Andrea of Hartstown, PA;   an uncle, Larry Higby, and his wife Anne of Medford, OR; and several beloved cousins.

Friends may call on Saturday, February 17th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a memorial service at 1:00 PM at Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard.
