Mary Ellen Marcinowski Coonfer, 89, of Lake City died on Saturday May 20, 2023 at her home.
She was born August 18, 1933 a daughter to the late Wladyslaw and Eva Olenik Marcinowski.
Mary Ellen, also known by many as Mickey, was born and raised in Lundy's Lane, graduating from Albion High School. She attended the Saint Vincent School of Nursing School until her marriage. Her various places of employment included Towne Square, Girard Plastics and Copes Vulcan. She retired from Pleasant Ridge Manor as a Nurse’s Aide, fulfilling her aspirations to provide care to others.
After retirement, Mickey and her husband enjoyed cruising and traveling throughout the United States as well as to St. Maarten Island. They wintered at various location throughout Florida as well.
She and her husband were active members and leaders of the Lake Erie Community Federal Credit Union. They enjoyed following their grandchildren as well as their great grandchildren through various sports and activities.
As she entered the later stages of life, Mickey enjoyed spending time with her friends and fellow members of the Fairview United Methodist Church playing cards and socializing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne B. Coonfer Jr., whom she married in 1956; her sisters, Helen Rogers, Alice Yankosky and Irene Kean and grandson in infancy, Jared Hanisek.
She will be greatly missed by her family which includes, her daughters, Cheryl Hanisek (David), and Gail Teribery (Russ) and son, Jeff Coonfer (Melinda); brother, William Dane Marcinowski (Cheryl); She leaves her grandchildren Jamie Hanisek, Jill Belmondo (D.J.), Ben Teribery (Ashley), Sarah Lybrook (Jake), Elliot Coonfer (Josie) as well as 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Interim Hospice 2633 W. 8th St. Erie, PA 16505 or to a charity of one's choice.
Friends may call on Tuesday May 23rd from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Edder Funeral Home Inc. Girard. A Funeral Service will be held there the following day Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Springfield Cemetery.
