Laurel Dohanic

Laurel (Behringer) Dohanic, 96, of Girard passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Holiday Niagara Village surrounded by family. 

Laurel was born on May 6, 1928 in Erie, a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Olga (Linday) Behringer. She was the loving wife of the late John L. Dohanic, Jr., whom she married on April 23, 1949 in Girard, and mother of James L. Dohanic Sr. and his wife, Cindy.

Laurel retired from First Federal Savings Bank and Trust, Walled Lake, MI. as a Bank Teller, but is better remembered for her years at Marx Toys (Girard Mfg.) and the Toymakers Federal Credit Union. Laurel was an active member of Girard United Methodist Church and enjoyed golf, theater, playing cards and loved being with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as a stillborn son, Robert John; three sisters, Edith, in infancy, Joanne F. Regelman, May O. Kibler and her husband, Charles; brothers, Joseph, in infancy, and Robert L. "Butch" Behringer.

Laurel is survived by her son, James L. Dohanic, Sr. (Cindy); and her sister, Ann Marie Randall. She will be deeply missed by her grandsons, James Lee Dohanic, Jr.(Abbey) their children Stella and Harrison; Aaron John Dohanic, and by Cindy's children, to whom she was a grandmother and great grandmother, Brent Meyer (Jen) and their daughters Allison and Gwen; Emily Kosova (Tony) and Mitchell Meyer (Desiree) and their daughters Penny, Lillian, and Charlotte; sister in law Judy Behringer. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and many loving friends and classmates.

Friends may call on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 1:00 pm to the time of memorial service at 2:00 pm at Holiday Niagara Village, 2380 Village Common Dr., Erie, PA 16506.
