Laura J. (Bateman) Schultz

Laura J. (Bateman) Schultz, 86, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital.

She was born September 24, 1938 a daughter to the late Archie and Martha (Kemling) Bateman. 

Laura grew up on the family farm, still held within the family, eventually returning to Bateman Road and building a home there. She graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1957. Following her schooling she worked in retail for many years, at  Hammers Furniture as well as Sears. She was married to her loving husband Tom for over twenty years, moving together where ever they went. Laura raised her children with pride in addition to reaching her loving arms out to adopt more children into her family. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Schultz; daughter, Melody Bissell; sisters, Emma Lovin and Ella Mae Harris; brothers, Archie and Charles Bateman. 

She will be greatly missed by her family which include her sons, Ron and Anthony Bissell; step-children, Colleen MacIntosh and Timothy Schultz; sister, Gladys Jones, Elizabeth Gates, Dorothy Mundaniohl (Daniel), Nellie Schanz, Carole Silvaggi (Vincent "Dan"), Martha Buren; several grandchildren; good friends, Richard and Dave; as well as many nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Erie,  1645 W 8th St, Erie, PA 16505.

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 10:00 am until 12:00 pm with a funeral service starting at 12:00 pm at the Edder Funeral Home Inc. 309 Main St. E. Girard. Burial will follow at Francis Cemetery, 8766 Gudgeonville Road, Girard.
