Kristen “Kris” R. Fuerst, 54, of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on August 24, 1971, in Washington, PA, the son of Dr. Nicholas and Patricia (Novosielski) Fuerst.
Kris lived his life to the fullest and had a deep love for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman who spent countless hours on the water pursuing his passion. Kris traveled across the United States in search of the next great fishing spot, spending time in places such as West Virginia, Colorado, New York, and throughout Pennsylvania. He loved fishing for all species of fish but especially Great Lake Steelhead, and was always eager to share stories from his many adventures.
In addition to fishing, Kris enjoyed hiking and exploring the beauty of nature. Many of his favorite days were spent walking along quiet streams and wooded trails with his three beloved dogs, Skip, Bella, and Roscoe. Those who knew Kris understood that being outdoors brought him a true sense of peace and happiness.
Above all, Kris cherished the time he spent with his wife, Tracy. The two shared a love for fishing and often looked forward to evenings fishing together at their favorite fishing spots along the shores and streams of Erie. Kris would often jokingly say, “Last one here and the last one to leave,” as they stayed until the sun dipped below the horizon. Those quiet moments together on the water were among his most treasured.
Kris was also deeply devoted to his Christian faith. Raised in the Catholic Church, his faith remained an important part of his life and helped guide him through both joyful and difficult times.
In addition to his parents, Kris leaves behind his loving wife of 22 years and high school sweetheart, Tracy (Perts) Fuerst. He is also survived by his brothers, Matthew Fuerst (Dana) and Michael Fuerst (Julie); his nieces and nephews, Gianna, Gabriel, Mila, Elise, and Luca Fuerst; and countless friends he met along the rivers, lakes, and streams during his many fishing adventures.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kris’ name may be made to ANNA Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511 or the 3-C-U Trout Association/ Pa Steelhead Association, PO Box 8892 Erie, PA 16505.
In accordance with Kris’ wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
