Kathryn A Bills

Kathryn “Kathy” Bills was called home, surrounded by loved ones, by our Lord Jesus Christ and Savior on Friday, November 18, 2022, at home.

 She was born December 7, 1945, in Erie, PA, to the late Fredrick J. and Dorothy A (Smith) Lajohn.

Kathy graduated from Villa Maria Academy in 1963 and the Erie School District LPN program in 1964.  Kathy received her accreditation as a Religious Education Coordinator from Mercyhurst College. For many years, Denny and Kathy were active members of St. John the Evangelist Church in Girard.

Throughout her adult life, God provided her with many wonderful, supportive Christian friends. Kathy especially loved spending time with her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and their spouses and her great-grandchildren.  Kathy loved tending her flowers, quilting, and making beach glass jewelry.

In addition to her parents Kathy was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Madelyn Zalewski and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She will be greatly missed by her family which includes her husband, of 55 years Dennis Bills whom she married July 4, 1967; four daughters, Betsy (John) Forbes, Concord Township, OH, Michelle Peacock, Georgia, Kristen Lemmon, Girard, PA and Natalie (Joel) Heisey, Pittsburgh, PA; eight grandchildren, Alicia (Michael) Tellers, Erie, PA, Corey Zalewski, Jefferson, GA, Danielle (Drew) Holder, Pendergrass, GA, Lindsey (Colin) Davis, Athens, GA, Ben Stewart of Girard, Sam Stewart of Girard, Katie Peacock of Auburn, GA and Eliana Heisey, Pittsburgh, PA.; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Owen and CeCe Tellers, Avalyn and Koven Holder and Macey Davis, a sister, Sandra Barry and a nephew, Fred Barry.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Orphan Resources International, 152 Horse Happy Road, Newmanstown, PA 17073, a non-profit organization in which her daughters, Betsy and Natalie are deeply involved, serving the needs of the orphans of Guatemala; The Mission of Friendship c/o the Diocese of Erie, 429 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16504, which ministers to those in dire poverty in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico; or to any shelter for the homeless and less fortunate. Please consider donating blood to your local blood bank.  Kathy was deeply grateful and prayed for the donors each time she received a blood transfusion.

Denny and Kathy wish to extend their heart-felt thanks to the compassionate and kind staff at AHN Cancer Center.
