Kathleen (Pavolko) Owens, age 85, died at her home on Wednesday July 12, 2023
She was born on November 30, 1937, a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Mary V. (Baranowski) Pavolko. She was one of five children living on a small farm in Albion. As a youth, she enjoyed nature, flowers and long walks in the woods.
Kathy graduated from the Albion area high school in 1955. Following high school she worked at the Mop and Ringer in Girard where she met her future husband, Ed Owens. She thought he looked like Burt Lancaster because of his red hair and they fell in love hanging out at the roller skating rink together. They married June 1, 1957. For the next 60 years she was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kathy was the proud mother of seven children. Kathy Crowl (Husband - Lew), Greg Owens (Wife – Lisa), Jim Owens (Wife – Naomi), Angela Shelton (Husband-Tom), Edward Matthew Owens (Wife-Sue), Carrie Lofquist (Husband Justin), Amanda Bentley (Husband-Kevin). Throughout her years of raising a family, she loved animals, cards, board games, travel adventures, geology, fashion and arts / crafts. She was an excellent seamstress and gardener. Often, she entered flowers in the Albion fair winning ribbons. She loved art and pursued an associate degree from Edinboro University after her children were grown because she enjoyed learning. Kathy was fascinated about the world and God’s creation.
Kathy was a devoted servant of the Lord and believed in the salvation of Jesus. She was often seen bringing bouquets of flowers to the elderly to brighten their days. She taught Sunday school to the smaller children at multiple churches that she attended including, Cranesville Bible Church. Being from humble beginnings herself, Kathy was always sensitive to helping people that were in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Ann Wheeler; and a brother Joe Pavolko.
Kathy will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes, her husband and children; sisters, Alice Bateman and Patricia Redman; grandchildren, Shane Hadzega, Luke and Austin Lofquist, Emily and Abby Bentley, Mitchel (Wife – Sarah), Colton (Wife – Mikaila) and Walker Owens; great-grandchildren, Amelia and Oliver Owens as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
