Joseph E. Snyder Jr., 68, of Girard, passed away on Friday August 5, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born July 29, 1954, in Erie, a son of the late Joseph E. and Theresa L. (Lewis) Snyder Sr.
Joe graduated from McDowell High School in 1972. Following high school, he began employment with Eriez Magnetics as a sheet metal mechanic. He later worked in the quality assurance department where he became Lead Man and was promoted to Quality Assurance Manager, retiring from there in 2014. Joe was proudly named Eriez Magnetics “Man of the Year”, in 2011.
He loved many things in life-golfing, classic cars, hunting, and fishing on Lake Erie and streams where he and his wife Jenny would travel. He loved the many days of riding his Harley with his brother Ron and friends, enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the U.S. with Jenny. Joe was a member of the N.R.A. and the “H.O.G.” group of Erie. He was a supporter of the USO, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and Wounded Warriors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Reitinger.
Joe will be greatly missed by his family, which include his wife, Jenny L. (Sutula) Snyder, whom he married September 4, 2009; also by his sons, Robert Snyder (Kacee) of Bowling Green, OH, SFC Andrew Snyder (Amy) U.S. Army, Grafenwoehr, Germany; step-daughters, Sarah Fischer (Tod), Julie Hamilton (Jeff); three sisters, Susanne Wilkins (Charles) of Anderson, S.C., Betty McKnight of Erie, Terri Hadden (Michael) of Erie; a brother, Ron Snyder (Linda) of Platea; his grandchildren, Tucker, Gavin, Logan, Luke, Levi and Lorelai Snyder, Reilly Wadika, and Hudson and Hank Hamilton, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 3 PM to the time of a Prayer Service at 6 PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. East, Girard.
