John L Petri

John L. Petri, 80 of Fairview died Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. 
 He was born to the late Raymond E. and Elizabeth C. Exley Petri on July 29, 1940 in Fairview.
  He graduated from Fairview High School and later studied computer programming at Erie Co. Vo-Tech. He worked at Van-Air in Lake City for 38 years, retiring as a manufacturing manager.
  John attended the Federated Church of East Springfield and was an integral part of the Fairview Fire Dept. Starting at the age of 18. His lifetime membership at the fire dept. included holding the offices of president (2 terms,) vice-president, secretary,and board of directors. He was a former Fire Captain & Lieutenant there, and was Assistant Chief for 6 years.  He also was a Civil War enthusiast, exploring the battlefields of Gettysburg and Antietam as well as building replicas of Civil War forts.
  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara L. (Shreffler) Petri; his son Kenneth A. "Sam" Petri and his sister, Becky Perkowski. 
  John is survived by his second wife Lois I. (Mansfield) Petri whom he married on July 28, 2007 in Girard; daughters Lisa A. Totman (Dennis O'Connor) of Erie, Tammy Washburn  (Joseph) of Meadville; sons, Douglas A. Petri of Millcreek and John M. Petri of Girard; stepsons, Fred Mansfield of Columbus OH,  Bruce Gifford (Rhonda) of Valrico, FL; sisters,  Clara "Tootie" Moore of East Springfield; a brother in law, Edward Perkowski of Lake City; brother Raymond E. Petri and wife (Sally) of Fairview; twelve grandchildren;  twenty great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
 Calling hours and services will be held privately by the family.
