John J. Huber, 97, of Girard, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at Manchester Commons.
John was born in Pittsburgh (Garfield) on March 22, 1926, son of Michael and Helen C. (Welte) Huber.
He was the last surviving sibling of eight children (Mary, Rita, John, Edward, Joseph, Thomas, Buddy and Gregory).
He graduated from Pittsburgh Central Catholic High school in 1944 and served in WWII in Europe in the 87th Infantry Division (Golden Acorn) under General Patton’s third army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He returned to Pittsburgh after the war and started work as a machinist at Union Switch and Signal.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by great grandchild, Jovee in 2018.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Huber, who he married on June 2, 1956 and two children, Marcia (Norman Sanford, Boulder, CO) and James & Mary (Girard, PA); also survived by six grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He later worked for Kennametal in Latrobe, PA, retiring as an Engineering Manager in 1991. John & Lynn relocated to Girard, PA in 1995. We will miss his engineering insight and planning foresight he had in all the projects completed from engine replacement to home repairs. He was a kind caring gentle soul and will be greatly missed by all.
We would like to thank Manchester Commons for their first-class professional care given to John during his stay there.
