John E. Holland Jr.

John E. Holland Jr., 70, of Girard, passed away comfortably in his sleep on Monday, November 25, 2024.

John was the son of the late John E. Holland Sr. and Mary “Arlene” Coolbeth, and born on November 19, 1954, at the family home in Lake City, PA. He graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1972 and later enlisted in the United States Army in 1974 as a Mechanic. After two years of active-duty service in Korea he returned home to Girard and joined the workforce. John worked at Pleasant Ridge Manor in Fairview as Groundskeeper and Mechanic for 44 years until he recently retired in 2023.

Though he could often be found in his favorite chair watching M.A.S.H. or NASCAR, he was better known as a hardworking man who would do anything for his family. Whether it was working on cars, going hunting, or plowing snow, he was a man of the outdoors and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Holland.

John will be deeply missed by his loved ones, including his son, Jason Holland (Dustine); his daughter, Jamie Brown (Douglas); his sisters, Judith Sargent (Al), Jane Manson, and Joy Teribery (Tom); as well as 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John's name may be made to the John Holland Jr. Memorial Fund under the care of Edder Funeral Home.

Friends may call on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 3:00 PM until the time of the service at 6:00 PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. E., Girard.
