John R. Fees

John R. Fees, 77, of Girard, died at his residence following a courageous battle with ALS on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, surrounded by his family.
 He was born January 9, 1944 in Kane, PA, a son of the late Robert and Doris (Johnson) Fees.
 John graduated from Kane High School in 1961, he enjoyed music and participated in the marching band at the school where he played the tuba. Following high school he furthered his education at Edinboro State College (now Edinboro University) where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. 
He began his professional teaching career at Market Street Elementary in Warren PA, where he taught 5th grade. He later  worked for P.L. Stubbe, Inc. in 1970 in Girard as a salesman and was employed there until 1979. He worked for Carter Lumber in Fairview and  later worked at the Corporate Office in Merchandising prior to retiring. During his retirement years he was a well known personality at Fairview Hardware, where he enjoyed assisting customers and meeting new people and friends.
 John was an active member of the Girard United Methodist Church where he served on all of the various boards and volunteered for many years at the church's Bible school in the summer. He enjoyed computers, riding his bike, loved to golf and talk with people, as well as watching birds and squirrels in his backyard.
 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Barron and his brother, Dick Fees.
 John will be greatly missed by his family, which include his wife, Gail (Stubbe) Fees, whom he married on August 27, 1966 in Girard; daughters, Michelle L. Sirak (Joe) and Doreen L. Logan (Brian); sons, Rob P. Fees and Jeff R. Fees (Lisa); sister, Sue Fredell (Bill); grandchildren, Jessica Fees (fiance, Kalab Allen), Samantha Fees and Jeffrey Logan;  two great grandchildren, Brantley and CC; and several nieces and nephews.
  Friends may call on Friday May 28, 2021 from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM at Edder Funeral Home Inc. 309 Main St. E. Girard, PA and are invited to attend a service on Saturday at Girard United Methodist Church 48 Main St. E., Girard, Saturday, May 29th at 2pm.
