Joan Mae Smith

Joan Mae (Lyons) Smith, 90, of Fairview, passed away on Monday February 28, 2022, at her home.
She was born in Erie, October 26, 1931, the granddaughter of the late Charles Lyons, founder of the Lyons Transportation Company of Erie.
Joan was raised and educated in Erie. She worked for various companies in the area as a cook and manager and began employment at Arby’s as a Manager and the Dutch Pantry. She was a well-known cook for the Cesar-Batista Club in Erie as well as the National Club on 17th and Cherry. Joan and her husband Gus lived many years in Lakewood, CA and Algona, WA before returning home to the Erie area and living In Fairview.
She loved cooking and sewing for her family throughout her life as well as gardening and her house plants.
 She will be greatly missed by her family, which include her husband, August “Gus” Smith, whom she married August 20, 1983 in Bell, CA; a daughter, Jorrie Ciotti of Maui, HI; a son, Preston C. Lindey of Fairview; grandchildren, David Lindey, Rebecca Lindey and Karla Paris (Tony); great grandchildren, Megan Fleming, Brianna Lindey, Max Paris and Brody Paris.
There will be no calling hours or services observed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Erie City Mission, 1017 French St., PO Box 407, Erie, PA 16512-0407.
