Joan Kathleen (Foster, Mink) Fiesler, 83 years old, passed peacefully into the Kingdom of God, guided by the Holy Spirit into the arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior. She passed at her home with her sisters nearby, on Saturday, January 20, 2024 which was also her birthday, born January 20, 1941.
Joan has always had a joy for life and was blessed with a cheerful, creative and productive spirit, connecting with one and all. She was a gifted artist who had natural ability for heartfelt communication and who loved the beauty of nature and history. She was a genealogist with a driven enthusiasm for researching, compiling and recording the history of the American family. She aided and completed the relevant histories of Fairview residents, offering assistance to anyone seeking knowledge of their genealogy. Her works are located at the Sturgeon house, Fairview Area Historical Society on Water Street in Fairview, Pennsylvania opposite the Fairview Presbyterian Church where Joan was a lifelong member. Most of all she loved her family, friends and fellow man, she had a life well lived and well done. A worthy soul to walk through the gates of heaven as enthusiastic as a child into the waiting arms of Jesus, who she always recognized as her Lord and Savior. “What more could be, than that song which is sung with ease” Joan reminds us of a cardinal singing its heart out onto the coming day, which sums up the nature of our beloved Joan.
Joan worked at the Erie, Pa. Times News starting in 1961 & retired from her position as Classified Advertising Assistant Manager in the 1990's. She was a member of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. Also a member of the Society of Craft Designers and has won numerous awards for her artistic creations.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, David Fiesler; and husband of 31 years of marriage, Russell K. Mink; her parents, Margaret & Harold Foster; a sister, Sandra Foster; two brothers, David Foster and Ronald Foster; and nephew Cameron Foster.
Joan is survived by her stepsons, Mike Fiesler and Charles Fiesler; stepson, Kenneth (Madeline) Mink; stepdaughter, Marge Mink. Surviving siblings include sister, Judith Enstrom; Sister, Diane Matz; sister, Alice Foster.
Joan is also survived by numerous beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, friends, and associates. Last, but not least, Joan is survived by her beloved chihuahua “Tiny” who will live out the rest of her days with Joan’s sister, Diane.
Many thanks of gratitude to UPMC Home Hospice for their wonderful and caring nurses & staff whom Joan & family considered to be angels on earth.
