Jeffrey Alan Hickin, 63, of Lake City, died suddenly on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
He was born on September 1, 1962, a son of Gerald and Suzanne (Dossert) Hickin.
Jeffrey attended Our Lady of Peace Catholic School, St. Mark’s Seminary, and was a graduate of McDowell High School. As a young man, he was active in the Boy Scouts of America, an experience that stayed with him throughout his life. He later led his own sons on their Scouting journeys with Troop #53, proudly seeing them achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
Jeff fiercely loved his family and loved God, holding a deep devotion to the Eucharist. He would help anyone in need and was known for his generosity of spirit. Jeff had a natural talent for new ideas and mechanical workings, a skill that allowed him to help countless people and excel in the workplace.
He dedicated more than 40 years to Triangle Tool and Mold as a tool and die maker, where he took pride in a job well done and was known for his loyalty and strong work ethic. In his later years, he transferred to Adler/Rapid Mold Solutions, continuing his work with the same dedication and integrity.
An outdoorsman at heart, Jeff enjoyed hunting with his trusted beagle by his side and fishing with his best friend, Bob Gandley. The two shared many adventures together, often traveling to camp in Greene County. Jeff was a member of the Bay City Gun Club and participated in Thursday night trap shoots. During late winters, he and his son hauled sap from maple trees, producing gallons of maple syrup that they sold to members of the community. In the summers, he especially enjoyed golfing.
Jeff was a faithful member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He was actively involved in Cursillo, serving as a past president of the movement. He was a proud Fourth Degree member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council #5430. He was also a member of the Pioneer Gas and Engine Society and the West Ridge Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Hickin; father-in-law, Gordon Thomas; mother-in-law, Audrey Thomas; niece, Samantha Smith.
