Jeffrey Ferrick Obituary

Jeffrey Gerard Ferrick, 63, of Girard, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 17, 2025, with loved ones by his side.

Jeff was born December 8, 1961, in Erie, Pa; son of the late Joseph L. and Mary Ellen (Hausmann) Ferrick.

He attended St. George Catholic Grade School and graduated from Cathedral Prep in 1980. While attending high school, Jeff worked at C.J.’s Hardware Store, mostly at the Kearsarge location.

Upon graduation, Jeff worked at UTEK, assisting in repairs following gas line installations, for several years before joining his father as an owner and operator of Joe Ferrick and Son’s Excavating. After his dad’s death, Jeff continued the business with his brother, Andy, until recently. While self-employed, Jeff also worked part-time snowplowing with Girard Township. He eventually joined the road crew full-time in 2017 and became Roadmaster in 2021. He loved his new role as well as his co-workers and clients, and he held this position until the time of his death.

Jeff was, above all else, a loving, caring, and selfless family man. He spent his entire life supporting his sons and granddaughters. Their interests became his interests.

Jeff’s legacy will live on through the love he shared with his family and the many lives of others he touched along the way.

In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, Matthew Ferrick; grandparents, John and Selma Ferrick, and Wilfrid and Helen Hausmann; father-in-law, Robert Spellman; nieces, Sheena N. Brown and Stacey R. Spellman; his dogs, Penny, Maddie, and Bailey; as well as close friends, Kenny, Scott “Captain”, and Deb.

Jeff will be greatly missed by his family, which includes his wife, Lisa L. (Spellman) Ferrick whom he married July 5, 1986 in Erie, Pa; sons, Coltin J. Ferrick (Kerry) and Austin D. Ferrick (Megan); the loves of his life, his granddaughters, Hallie Ann, Delaney Lynn, Emmy Catherine, Annie Irene, and Maggie Josephine; siblings, Joseph Ferrick (Sue), Sally Busko (Chris), Greg Ferrick (Kim), Julie Wilson (Phil), Paul Ferrick (Jeff), Timothy Ferrick (Lisa), Andrew Ferrick, and Father Michael Ferrick. Jeff is further survived by mother-in-law, Linda Spellman; sister-in-law, Kristen Brown (Bob); brothers-in-law, Kevin Spellman (Robin) and Timothy Spellman (Lori); a special uncle, John Hausmann; his dog, Maggie; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
