Jeanne L. (Callahan) Yaros, 95, of Girard, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at her residence.
She was born on December 5, 1929, in East Springfield, a daughter of the late Merrills M. and Gladys M. (Hershelman) Callahan.
Jeanne graduated from West Springfield High School in 1947. She worked at the Evans Funeral Home and the Red and White Grocery Store in East Springfield, and later at the FBI in Washington, D.C. She eventually returned to the Girard area, where she met her husband and worked at Marx Toys in Girard until 1954. Jeanne took time off to start her family, then returned to Marx Toys part-time while raising her young daughters. Later, she was employed as a nurse’s aide at Pleasant Ridge Manor.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard. Jeanne enjoyed reading, being outdoors, and spending time working in her yard and garden. She also loved her dogs, Shannon, Robin, Alex. She was an avid baseball fan and rooted for the Phillies, Pirates, Red Sox especially when they beat the Yankees.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Yaros; brothers, William R. Callahan and Gerald M. Callahan; and sons-in-law, David V. Hessong Jr. and Daniel S. Pintea.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ann Hessong of Girard and Colleen M. Pintea of Lake City; her granddaughters, Hayley Pintea of Lake City and Adrianna Schwartz (Isaak) of East Springfield; great-grandson, Archee Schwartz; and several nieces and nephews.
