James A. Vangor, 70, of Girard, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at his home.
He was born on May 5, 1952, a son to the late Andrew and Dorothy (Douglas) Vangor. James grew up in the Girard area graduating from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1970. Throughout high school he worked at Buyers Fair as a stocking man. For over 30 years he stayed with the company lastly as an Assistant Manager. He then moved his work to Van Air Systems working in assembly until his retirement.
James had a home adjacent to Elk Creek where he loved to fish. In addition he often went looking for catfish at local accesses. James kept a hearty vegetable garden each summer, often attempting to grow unique plants. He loved his family and enjoyed picnics at the home rousing his nieces and teaching them to fish. He was a lover of animals, always having a dog or cat. His dog Macey and his cat Stupid will miss him tremendously. James was a quiet man with a great sense of humor. He was a member of multiple bowling leagues at West Way Lanes. James kept his faith with the Lord through the Lutheran Church.
He will be greatly missed by his family which include his sisters, Beverly Bible and Carole Hrinda; nieces, Jolene Taylor (Chris), Lindsay Adams (Drew) and Jennifer Fisher (Rudy); great nieces, Paige Fisher, Raegen Fisher and Mya Adams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anna Shelter, 1555 E 10th St., Erie, PA 16511 or to the West County Paramedics, 6852 Meadville Rd., Girard, PA 16417.
With James wishes no calling hours will be observed, private burial will take place at Girard Cemetery.
