James Alton Loomis

James Alton Loomis, 76, of Girard passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

James was born February 20, 1949 in Erie, a son of the late Alton L. and Anna M. (Hesling) Loomis.

He attended Erie's Academy High School and served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his Honorable discharge from the military he was employed by Cohen's Carpeting and Servpro in Erie.

James was a member of VFW Post #11 Erie.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Allen Loomis and Herbert Loomis and by his sister, Clara Loomis Porter.

He is survived by two brothers, Edward Loomis of Girard, and Donald Loomis of Fairview; by his sister, Margaret Loomis Grochulski of Erie; and by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in James name may be made to the "James Loomis Memorial Fund" under the care of Edder Family Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East Girard PA 16417.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
