Gary Gabutti Obituary

Gary R. Gabutti, 81, of Girard, died on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Manchester Commons.

He was born on January 24, 1941, a son to the late Aurto "Art" and Eleanor (Gorcycki) Gabutti.

Gary graduated from Cathedral Prep High School in 1959 where he excelled as a student athlete. During high school, he worked at his Fathers local tailor and dry cleaning shop. After graduation, he traveled the Erie area as a TV repairman. Gary's career began with 3M Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing as a service technician. He stayed there many years until an early retirement in 1986. Gary then found his dream job as the caretaker of the C.J. Palmer Estate in Erie. Gary took a final leave of absence at 80 years old from the estate.

He never strayed from beginning a new project at home, whether it be an addition or brick laying. Gary was a natural athlete and enjoyed time playing slow pitch soft ball on the Rausch Construction team as well as bowling in his spare time. Gary also took time to be with friends golfing at Over Lake Golf Course. He was one to never stop learning and became fluent in Latin.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Gabutti; and beloved dogs, Digger and Rommel.

He will be greatly missed by his family which include his wife, Judy (Clark) Gabutti, his high school sweetheart, whom he married on June 16, 1962; daughters, Brandy Gabutti (Richard Runstedler) and Brooke Gabutti (Sean Currier); sons, Brian Gabutti (Sharon) and Brad Gabutti (Kathy); sisters, Lonnie Seybolt and Gloria Ann Tucker; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Anna Shelter, 1555 E 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511 or to Because You Care, 6041 West Road, McKean, PA 16426.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
